Such exciting news to hear that our alumn Dan Sheehan debuted in Ireland's National Rugby team last weekend in their match against Japan, where they emerged victorious. What a match! When our athletic director David Hughes told me of Dan's debut I wrote to congratulate him and ask him about his journey to this moment, and discovered that it has been a long time coming. Dan has been a rugby fan since he was a child, and started to play at 6 years old when he lived in Dublin. Him and his siblings studied at AISB when he was 10 until 13, at which time he stopped playing as we don't have a rugby program (maybe we should get on that!), but he was able to pick it back up when he moved back to Ireland to attend Conglowes boarding school.
Over the years Dan has played for Trinity University, Lansdowne RFC, and currently Leinster Rugby since the 23rd of October of 2020. Alongside his commitment to rugby, Dan is currently studying Social Policy and Sociology at University College Dublin, showing all of us that if you keep at your passions you can truly achieve anything you put your mind to!
We wish Dan the best of luck in Ireland's match agains the All Blacks coming up this saturday, we couldn't be more proud of this VAMPIRE!
