ASIB Learning & Events News |
I am sure many of you remember this nice event, as the first community event of the year, after which people would picnic around, chat with old friends make new fiends.
AISB is putting up TerryFox Run again and it is happening this coming Saturday, on September 11th, starting from 09:00.
Who can join? The event is open to all community members (students, teachers, parents & siblings, alumni, etc).
How to Register? This year, we have two time slots that people can choose to attend the event in. One slot is from 09:00 to 10:30 and the second slot is 11:00 to 12:30. This is done in order to give as many members of our community the opportunity to enjoy the event whilst also minimizing the number of people on campus at the same time. You will not be able to come in if you do not register previously.
What Health restrictions are in place? The event is taking place completely on campus and solely outdoors. No health documents will need to be presented to enter. Everyone will be required to complete a health questionnaire upon entry. Masks will need to be worn upon entry to the school and once outside they can be removed.
How long is the walk/run? The course has been designed completely on campus! It is 1 mile long (1.6 km). Everyone is invited to complete one lap, and more if they wish!
T-Shirt Sales? This year’s t-shirt will be on sale all next week and cost 60 lei. They will be on sale at the front of the school at the beginning and end of the day. Secondary students will also be able to purchase shirts at lunchtime. Shirts will also be available to purchase on Saturday at the event.
How will the event look on the day? It will look similar to previous years in the sense that the Canadian ambassador and school director will give opening remarks, followed by a warm-up led by World Class. The walk/jog/run will then start and will be followed by an opportunity for people to interact in the Central Park area of the school and purchase food and drinks from a small number of vendors.
How do we support fundraising and where do the funds go? As in the previous school year, one of the aims of this year's Terry Fox Run is to raise funds for cancer research. Soft copies of the donation sheet can be found here. Students can use this to raise awareness among friends, family, neighbors, and other people in their community who are willing to make a donation for this year’s Terry Fox Run at AISB. Some hard copies are also available from the Service Learning space (room#410) The pledge sheets and money can be brought back every day next week to the class/homeroom teacher. Donations will also be welcome on the day. This school year, donations can be made with cash or through bank transfer. Details on how to support through bank transfer can be found on the donation/pledge sheet.
All the funds that are raised go to the Terry Fox Research Institute.
Any Other Questions? If you have any questions about the day, please contact David Hughes (dhughes@goaisb.ro). We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!
